Chlorine Damage to Flapper Valve Discs

Chlorine Damage Flapper Valve Disc

Main Flapper Valves from an Autotrol
 after prolonged use on a chlorinated water source.

The Autotrol valve can be Do It Yourself Repairs. You will need to replace the flapper valves discs, the backwash flow control ball, and possibly the injector, brine flow control ball and pipe adapter gaskets.

Complete replacement of the upper valve body is also an option to be considered.

NOTE: Autotrol is now using materials that are more chlorine tolerant as of 2003.

Also, if you resins have been subjected to chlorinated water for 10 years or more, then replacement is recommended. Resins Replacement Guide
